2018 Teofilo Reyes Ribera Del Duero Edicion Limitada Crianza
This is a new one that caught our eye. Long time readers know we love Spanish wines, especially Ribera Del Duero which is just a mecca for high quality wines at great prices. And this bottle is a perfect example.
It’s not an inexpensive wine at $28.99 but we feel it’s worth that and much more. MSRP looks to be around $65, and online we see it available for a discounted price of $39.99.
The wine also pulled down a whopping 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, and earned an “Editor’s Choice” designation. Worth mentioning because we agree it’s a winner, not quite 95 points but close.
This wine pours a deep ruby in the glass; ripe fruit, earthy on the nose; medium to medium plus in body with nice acidity; flavors are cherry, plum and (we’ll steal from the WE description) balsamic, which is spot on. Very dry, peppery in the finish.
An absolute gem of a wine that’s multi-dimensional with big mouthfeel. Pair with red meat dishes. Be sure to let it decant for a bit as it needed a little time to truly open up. An easy addition to our Top Picks list.
