2016 Bodegas Casa Primicia Vina Diezmo RV Reserva Rioja

We’ve never tasted this one before and wasn’t sure what to expect, but a $12 Rioja Reserva with seven years of age on it at Costco, needed to be checked out.

And glad we did. This is a stunning wine at a ridiculously low price. Online we see it going for as high as $42. And a 94 point rating from Wine Enthusiast to boot.

In the glass, the wine is a medium ruby, with red berry fruit, cigar box on the nose. In the mouth, flavors of black cherry, boysenberry, touch of mocha and spice leading into the finish. The wine is dry throughout with good acidity and soft tannins.

Right now is a perfect drinking window on this one, and it’s just a superb value find. An easy addition to our Recommended wine list.
