Bousquet Leads The Way in 2024
Domaine Bousquet Leads The Way
If ever there were wine leaders, who were willing to go on their own and become extremely successful, it’s Domaine Bousquet. Crafting wines in Mendoza Argentina, a newly released “Semi-Annual Sustainability Report Update” recently came into my hands. Jump to here for it. They just do it all, and do it so remarkably well.

Chairman of the Board, Labid Ameri
President, CEO, Co-founder, & Partner, Anne Bousquet
When the following is a couple’s resume, we expect powerful things from them, and they just deliver. And, Domaine Bousquet just delivers, ever since I’ve known them and it’s been more than a few years.
Let me begin by saying, this is a perfect union of a husband and wife team. They began with careers that are a Yin Yang. While it is ideal, unless you have their degrees in finance, you might not have that ideal skill set. Still, it’s worth mentioning, because it’s a remarkable.combination for success.
- Labid holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from St. Cloud University, MN, USA, and an MBA from Northeastern University, MA, USA. After school, he worked as a sales trader on the International Equity desk at Fidelity Capital Markets. In 2005, he created the commercial structure for Domaine Bousquet, resulting in a brand presence in more than 30 countries.
- Prior to joining Domaine Jean Bousquet in 2008, Anne worked as an economist, doing forecast analysis for the European paper packaging industry. Anne joined the company to assist in financial planning, day-to-day operations management and business development. Anne holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Economics, also from St. Cloud University, and a Bachelor (Maitrise) Degree in Economics from the The University of Toulouse, France, France.
While Domaine Bousquet is based in Mendoza, Argentina, they also opened a US business office in Miami, Florida. This was a brilliant move by Labid Ameri, who created a presence in 30 countries, avoiding the three-tier systems. Considering Labid and Anne’s backgrounds in finance, I would only recommend this to people who also have similar credentials. I also believe they could jointly write a book on “how to” create this very successful structure.
The Press Release With Stats
January 1 through June 30, 2024, Domaine Bousquet’s production of still wines in lightweight bottles increased to 95 percent. They are now less than 420 g – approximately 14.8 ounces. It is up from 74 percent in 2023, Including sparkling wines. The figures also rose, reaching 92 percent in the first six months of this year, compared with 71percent in the year prior. Anne Bousquet underscores the benefits of lightweight bottles, stating, “Light is right: less waste, significantly less CO2 emitted during production, and fewer raw materials are used.”
The Switchero To Save Poundage
Switching from 540 g to 400 g bottles allows for a saving of 160 kg (353lbs) of CO2 in the production process of 3,000 bottles, yielding 35% more bottles. Put another way, every 1,200 kg of glass yields 222,222 heavy (540 g) bottles or 300,000 (400 g) lightweight bottles. In keeping with the October 2023 Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) Bottle Weight Acord, Domaine Bousquet is on target to reduce its average 750 ml still-wine bottle weight from 550 g to 420 g or less before the end of 2026.
Okay, the breakdown
-
540 grams (g) is equal to 0.54 kilograms (kg)
-
400 grams (g) is equal to 0.4 kilograms (kg)
-
The difference between the two weights is 160 grams (g), which is equal to 0.16 kilograms (kg)
-
To convert kilograms to pounds, we multiply by 2.2, so 0.16 kg * 2.2 = approximately 0.352 pounds (lbs)
Therefore, switching from 540 g bottles to 400 g bottles allows for a saving of approximately 0.352 pounds (lbs) per bottle.
Other Recently Achieved Benchmarks At Domaine Bousquet
In 2023, Domaine Bousquet recycled 96.8 percent of waste generated by the company. By mid-year 2024 that number stands at 97.6%.
In 2024 the company has already composted 910,000 kg (2,006,204 lbs) of organic waste. This represents four times the composted amount in 2023. Handling the huge increase entailed significant additional space and structures.
As part of its commitment to transparency and accountability, Domaine Bousquet will continue to publish annual sustainability report updates in full on the winery website. Annual reports, released on Earth Day each year, are prepared in consultation with Europe’s Terra Institute.
About Domaine Bousquet: A pioneer in the organic wine category, Domaine Bousquet has been a member of the B Corp movement since 2022. Vineyards planted in virgin terrain, starting in 1997, have been certified organic from the get-go. The 672-acre property in Gualtallary in Mendoza’s Uco Valley lies at a dizzying altitude of 4,000 feet. Argentina’s largest exporter of certified organic wines, Domaine Bousquet is owned and managed by Anne Bousquet and her husband, Labid al Ameri. https://domainebousquet.com/en/
