Best Press Releases for 11.01.24

This is a series, about incoming emails that pique my curiosity, which allows me to share what’s hot n’ hip. I’m all in, from the cubed ice balls to wine fridges. Then to a new wine lounge in Napa and onto African American Vintners. A cyber security book next segues into a really special Barolo wine from Italy.

Having wine fridges are really cool, for keeping wines fresh. Newair is serving the needs of beverages, which I’ve endorsed in the past, because they have such cool wine fridges. And, they keep branching out.

You can bring the party to your wine or spirits bar with this playful iceball maker! Their title says it better than I ever could, “Cozy Fall Nights Just Got Cooler with the Countertop Whiskey Ice Ball Maker.” If you think about what holiday gifts would be great for the person who has everything, this is a neat option. This Newair Countertop Whiskey Ice Ball Maker makes 32 Ice Spheres in 24 Hours. It’s an ice machine that creates very cool and round Ice cubes. The round ice cube machine is suggested for whiskey, cocktails, and spirits. The prices range from $200 to $700, so there’s no doubt something for everyone’s budgets. What’s NOT to LOVE?

I received a press release from Domaine Carneros, which really sparked my imagination. What more could they possible perfect? Domaine Carneros is already an excellent winery, as it honors growers and they make ultra-premium Carneros sparkling wines. CEO Remi Cohen directs the winery with the highest standards. She appreciates quality over quantity. Domaine Carneros has a very limited production of Pinot Noirs, too.

They just announced the unveiling of one of wine country’s “swankiest new venues,” accordingly calling it the Salon des Rêves. It was imagined as a speakeasy-style club, where locals and visitors can experience luxury offerings.  And, I do mean luxury, especially with oysters, caviar, ceviche, and tinned fish. Those are in addition to the winery’s wide selection of accompaniments including local charcuterie, smoked salmon, vegan cheese and macarons. The Salon des Rêves sounds like an amazing venue for holiday gatherings and special occasions! Here are a few reasons why:

  • The Art Deco-inspired decor and speakeasy-style atmosphere create sophistication setting for all events.

  • The luxury offerings of oysters, caviar, ceviche, and tinned fish, along with the wide selection of accompaniments, make for a truly indulgent dining experience.

  • The Plat des Perles tasting experience, with its sparkling wines and fresh oysters, is a perfect way to celebrate with special people..

Bookings for the Plat des Perles experience are by appointment and require four days advanced reservations. Groups larger than 8 people should call  707-257-0101 x 150, or email reservations@domainecarneros.com for availability. Cancellations must be made 4 days prior to reservation.

Association of African American Vintners (AAAV)

Continues To Grow

Years ago I decided that wine needed to become more inclusive. Little did I know what path it would take. That was in 2002, and I made sure that Mac McDonald of Vision Cellars would lead the group into the future.  I began to tell their stories, with their permission, of Dr. Ernie Bates, Mac McDonald, Vance Sharp, and Dr. Marvin Poston. I was only with them for a year, as a volunteer. When my press release hit Malaysia, I knew I had done what I wanted to do. Now I watch them continue to grow and it’s so meaningful.

I just received a press release from them, and it made me really smile. As I reflect on their history, it was so worth my time and energy. For example I named it, they claimed it, they so own, and it’s a perfect love story.

Today In The Real World

I saw a path to future inclusive behavior, because I saw the path to righteousness. Additionally, it’s been coupled with their own untiring effort. My company understood how to best launching what was necessary, and a few African American winemakers also understood and were also brave. It’s dedicated to providing education, advocacy, and community support for Black vintners, wine brands, and industry professionals.

A scholarship has been created in partnership with AAAV, so that all people of color can advance more quickly. Please click the link for more details.

Cyber Defense – New Books with Easy to Follow Step-by-Step Recommendations

Since this is a wine blog, you might wonder why a book on Cyber Defense was sent to me. So let me ask YOU a question. Do you have computers at your winery?  Cecelia Anastos wrote, “I have been busy writing three cyber defense books. Besides the two you see in the photo attached, there’s also Cyber Defense for Law Enforcement and First Responders.” At first I wondered, “why wine blog,” but then I thought about all the times I’ve been hacked. She went on, “I look forward to hearing from you.” Cecelia is obviously someone who knows how to write a great query.  Alone on that fact, I wanted to know more.

So, how does this relate to wine? Ever been hacked? Ever had to call your webmaster on Christmas Day, because cyber security has fail you? In my home office it has happened a lot. The more you know about Cyber security, the better prepared you are. It was a partnership of vision and timing.

Cecelia has credentials that are totally impressive. And not all of my friends are into wine, but indirectly can be, so I remain open-minded. About Cecilia:Cecilia Anastos holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Intelligence with specialty in Middle East Issues, a Graduate Certificate in Cybercrime, a B.A. in Criminal Justice with a specialty in Psychology, and a Dog Trainer degree from the Animal Behavioral College. Actually, is was the dog trainer that got to me.

A Unique Variety ~ Barolo and Cannubi

Excitement builds for the new Barolo Riserva Cannubi 2020 Vintage

I received a press release a while ago that really caught my attention. I saved it because it’s quite a remarkable story. You might also find it unique, or some of you might want to go shopping. I’m 30 years into wine, and still constantly learning. I know it can go either way. I see wine as an ever-opening lotus blossom, continually revealing more beauty.

Barolo wines are made from the Nebbiolo grape, and is considered one of Italy’s greatest wines. When I was in Italy in 2019, I did have a lot of Barolos. These wines were all created from the Nebbiolo grape, and are considered one of Italy’s greatest wines. Cannubi, on the other hand, is an important and prestigious Italian vineyard. It’s best known for its exceptional grapes and the high quality Barolo wines they produce. Aha! Now we know why this press release came as an update.

The winery that sent this information to me is Collezione Franco Miroglio. Tenuta Carretta is located in the south of Piedmont. It’s in the Piobesi d’Alba regio, in Roero. The winery has a rich, historic story, where the past, present, and future are well integrated. Their press release announced their newly released Barolo Riserva Cannubi 2018 Collezione Franco Miroglio. It would be quite lovely to taste this wine one day. Do you agree? It’s all quite tasty,
