Decoy Brut Cuvee Sparkling Wine
We typically find the Decoy line of wines from Duckhorn to give a decent bang for the buck, and we’re seeing quite a few of them pop up at Costco nowadays.
The last one we reviewed was the Sauvignon Blanc, which was pretty good. We were bigger fans of the Sonoma red blend, which we tasted a while back. Pretty sure there are a couple other ones in stores right now too, so perhaps we’ll try to review those.
Taking a look at this sparkling bottle, retail price is around $20, so Costco’s $14.99 price is a pretty good discount. Wine Spectator went 90 points which is pretty high.
In the glass, this wine pours a medium straw with light citrus fruit and pear on the nose; more citrus fruit in the mouth with some apple flavor; nice effervescence and a good bubbly overall.
While this is totally enjoyable, there are other Costco bubbly selections we’d probably go to before this one.
The Gloria Ferrer wines are always a favorite and priced similarly, and it is almost impossible not to want to spend $5 more and step up to the Kirkland Champagne, which we always love.
