Tri Valley: At Gallagher’s, it’s always a great day for a Guinness
Sunshine Gallagher’s twinkling eyes get teary when she recalls her dad, Jim Gallagher, who spent a cheery life behind bars of his own making.
The Pub transforms into 9,000 square feet of family-friendly bar on St. Patrick’s Day, stretching onto the patio and into the tented parking lot with live music by Toucan Jam and the Leprechauns.
To help soak up the dozen or two kegs of green beer (and booze from five full bars), there will be 300 pounds of corned beef, hot dogs for the kids, and a score of pizzas by the slice.
Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, the weekend before will be equally big at Gallagher’s, revving up after Dublin’s two-day St. Patrick’s Day Celebration winds down at 5 p.m.
“He floated behind the bar,” says Sunshine while sitting in her pub at a shamrock-shaped table wearing peace earrings and a polka-dot top.
